Claret Mercy Home – Rehabilitation Center in Nedumkandam

< Back to Project

Context and reality

The project is implemented in the Nedumkandam region, in the State of Kerala, where many people with mental disabilities and individuals recovering from addiction live in conditions of significant social and economic vulnerability.

Families often lack the resources necessary to provide adequate care, human support, and continuous healthcare. Many people suffering from mental disorders or addiction are marginalized, abandoned, or deprived of dignified living conditions.

The Claret Mercy Home has been operating since 2015 as a rehabilitation and temporary care center. However, it currently functions in a provisional and inadequate facility, which limits both the quality of care provided and the safety of its residents.

Project description

The project involves the construction of a stable and permanent facility for the Claret Mercy Home, designed to accommodate people living with mental health conditions and individuals recovering from alcohol and drug addiction.

The new facility will include dormitories, a kitchen, common areas, and spaces dedicated to personal support and therapeutic care.

The activities carried out by the center include:
– Healthcare and rehabilitation services;
– Psychological and spiritual support;
– Recovery programs for individuals struggling with substance addiction;
– Support for the families of residents through counseling and guidance;
– Social reintegration pathways and the restoration of personal dignity.

The project aims to create a protected, stable, and caring environment that promotes the physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being of its residents.

How the project responds to reality

The project directly addresses the lack of adequate facilities for the care and rehabilitation of the most vulnerable people.
The construction of a new facility will make it possible to provide safer, more dignified, and healthier living conditions for the residents of the center.
Through a holistic approach to care and support, the project promotes mental health recovery, emotional stability, and the social reintegration of the beneficiaries.
In addition, support for families and collaboration with healthcare services and local organizations contribute to strengthening the social fabric of the community.
