Intensive and Holistic Engaging, Accompanying, Rearing, and Training of the Datal Anggas Youth

< Back to Project

Context and reality

The project is implemented in the mountainous and isolated area of Datal Anggas, in the Province of Sarangani, a region characterized by severe poverty, high illiteracy rates, and geographic isolation.

The population mainly belongs to the indigenous Blaan and Tagakaulo communities, who live in conditions of economic and social vulnerability. The area is difficult to access due to mountainous roads, rivers, and weather conditions that frequently interrupt transportation and communication.

Over the years, the region has also been affected by conflicts between government military forces and armed rebel groups, resulting in displacement, interruptions to schooling, human rights violations, and the destruction of families’ agricultural resources.

In this context, many young people face the risk of educational exclusion, persistent poverty, and the loss of their cultural identity.

  • Educational support and academic formation;

  • Environmental education;
  • Youth camps, formation workshops, and community activities;

How the project responds to reality

The promotion of indigenous traditions and the strengthening of cultural identity also help communities preserve their spiritual and social heritage.
Education is thus proposed as a concrete means of empowerment, poverty reduction, and the construction of more autonomous and resilient communities.
